a. For a period of six months, the trainee will be a probationary member, attending trainings and calls with prevailing minimum wage pay.
b. During the six-month period, the trainee’s attendance, achievement, and suitability will be reviewed by the officers. Occasionally, the probationary period may be extended beyond the six months.
c. If approved by the officers and members, the trainee will be referred to the Fire Board for full membership.
d. Based on a majority vote of the members, the trainee will be presented to the governing body for approval as a member of the Concho Fire Department.
e. Once accepted, the new member will be paid for attendance at training and call outs at the prevailing rate for his/her level of training.
Note vs 2013: probation used to be unpaid. 2026 pays prevailing minimum wage during the six months.
