Public Records Request

Purpose
ARS §39-121. Chief or designee answers. Routine in 72 hours.
All records received or created by Fire District personnel are presumed to be public records unless specifically exempt under Arizona law. The Chief or designee is responsible for responding. Provisions: 1. Public records available for inspection during regular business hours except observed holidays (ARS §39-121). 2. Copies within a reasonable period considering volume, availability and redaction. 3. Respond by producing documents, producing redacted documents, or explaining why not. 4. District legal counsel or County Attorney may be consulted. 5. The District is not required to create a new record or transform format. 6–7. A district employee accompanies any customer who inspects records and stays for the duration. Request form required. Electronic searches that return more than 100 hits get narrowed. Routine requests should be satisfied within 72 hours. Fees are set by Board resolution. SOG §14 also lists $0.50/page plus a $10.00 base fee.
