Patient information stays on the PCR and in the Chief’s lane.

PURPOSE: Ensure all Concho Fire District members understand the Health Information Protection and Portability Act obligations that attach to patient care reports and related medical information. Operative rule from companion policies: PCRs are confidential. Do not discuss patient information off the call except as required for continuity of care, quality review, or a lawful records request processed by the Chief. Medical files are stored separate from personnel files (see Personnel Records).
