Grievance Policy

FB-SEC-54 · hr

Purpose
A process for complaints that are not wages or the printed policy book.
A grievance is a condition of employment or application of a policy the member perceives as unjust or inequitable. Bring it within 15 days of the circumstances. After each management response the member has seven calendar days to step up. Times extend for wildland assignments or scheduled PTO. Step One — immediate supervisor, written if needed, seven calendar days to answer. Step Two — Fire Chief, fourteen calendar days. If the grievance is against the Chief, the Board Chair decides. Freedom from reprisal for good-faith use. Member may bring a witness to meetings. Harassment / discrimination complaints use Equal Employment and Harassment policies, not this ladder.
